Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

I have two left feet. Do you really think I can dance?

A:

Although there may be an occasional left footer around, most often it relates to the fear of doing something you never learned how to do. When you’re nervous it’s hard to keep the rhythm.

Q:

There are so many steps to learn, how will I remember them all?

A:

Traditionally, the emphasis in ballroom dance is on steps. The truth is that it’s the technique that’s more important. Technique doesn’t require remembering lots of things.

Q:

Which dances would I learn to do in a ballroom dance class?

A:

The most common dances include Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, Tango, Cha Cha, Rhumba, Salsa/Mambo and Merenge. If you know these dances, you’ll be able to dance anytime and anyplace.

Q:

Will it take me forever to learn enough dance just so I can go out and enjoy myself occasionally?

A:

Certainly not. On average, about ten lessons will get you off the ground and feeling comfortable on the dance floor with at least two or three dances. You may want to take more lessons over time to become proficient in certain details or to expand into additional dances.

Q:

If I learn to dance with just my spouse, will I be able to dance with anyone else?

A:

If you learn good dance technique you can dance with anyone, even if you’ve never danced with them before.

Q:

I’d like to get a different kind of gift for someone special in my life, can I give them the gift of dance?

A:

Absolutely. You can get a gift certificate for dance lessons or if there is a special event coming up like a wedding, birthday, or anniversary party, make it an event that will stand out. Give them a dance performance for their special day. Background ballroom dancing will  make it a day to remember.
